How to work with Words2Learn

1. Intro Page

You start to work with Words2Learn platform from the Intro page, where you can see the Intro video, Help video, and go to Signup menu. You can also see the buttons refer you to the Google Play store for downloading the Words2Learn mobile application. The default display language is English, but you can change it using the button on the header. You can always change it in your profile. Logging in the next time, the system will bring you directly to the Main menu, but you can always come to the Intro page pushing the “?” button on the header.

2. Language setting

Using the Signup button you come to the Language setting page where you can set the Learning language pair. You can always change these parameters in your profile.

3. Registration

After setting the Interface Language and Learning language pair, you are redirected to Signup page where you can sign up your new account using your email and password. Please, read carefully “Terms of Service and Privacy Policy” before signing up. The next login you can perform using social networks FB, VK and Google if your registered email address corresponds the social network email.

4. Main menu

After the signing up you come to the Main Menu, where you can overview all features and functions

5. Profile

We suggest you to go firstly to your profile and to fill your details in order to allow Words2Learn to provide you the best service.

6. Library

You can start your foreign language learning choosing suitable books in the library from the wide range of bestsellers and training aids/ Pay attention, some books are paid or available only for Premium subscription. Opening the book, you can listen it by human or machine voice. In the machine mode, you can listen the book with American or British pronunciation with different speed. You have full control for the text playback and sentences translation. You mark the book as favorite moving it to “My Texts” in “Texts” menu for indexing, analysis and moving the words into your personal vocabulary.

7. Text

You can also start working with new text in “Texts” menu. Here you have 4 options:
  • From My texts – the books marked as Favorite in the library
  • By making the text copy/paste from any text
  • By providing the HTTP reference to txt file
  • By Uploading the txt file
Using “Show text”, you can look at this text and by marking any word, phrase or sentence get the option to translate it right on the place, to listen the native speaker voice proper pronunciation and to put it directly to your vocabulary. Pushing on “Analyze text”, you move the text for splitting it on words or phrases for your personal vocabulary

8. Indexes

Then the learning process is initiated and you are redirected to “Indicators” page where you can see calculated “Text Complexity level” and “Your personal text index”. These indicators can help you to measure your progress and to choose the proper texts complying your level. You are proposed to split the text on “words” or “phrases” depending on how you prefer to learn

9. Words & Phrases analysis

After the analysis finish, you are redirected to the Learn page where you can see the list of “words” or “phrases”. You have many features on this page. You can see translation, listen the voice of native speaker, record your own voice and compare it with the native speaker and finally, you can assign every “word” or “phrase” to your personal vocabulary (“Known” or “Unknown” list). You can sort or filter this list. It is important to know that the words/phrases that are already in your “Known” Vocabulary are excluded from the split list. The words/phrase are already in your “Unknown” Vocabulary are highlighted. Therefore, if you will progress with your personal vocabulary, this list becomes shorter and shorter.

10. Vocabulary

Here you are! Now you can go to your personal Vocabulary and start learning the words and phrases. The Vocabulary contains 4 chapters: “Known words”, “Unknown words”, “Known phrases”, “Unknown phrases”. In every chapter, you can see translation, listen the voice of the native speaker, record your own voice and compare it with the native speaker. Finally, when you decide, you had learned the words/phrase, you can move it from Unknown to Known list.

11. Self-tests

Now, it is a time to prove your knowledge. You can go to Self test page and run the self-tests one by one. The tests are automatically created from your “Known” words list. Every test check 15 words and contains 30 questions (every words is tested in both translation direction). Every question has 5 answers: one is correct and the others are not. You has from 5 to 30 sec for any answer (definable). You can then check your results in “Test results”. The word, which was not answered properly at least in one translation direction, is automatically returned from your “Known” Vocabulary to “Unknown” Vocabulary.

You have Dashboard page where you can check your activity log, Known and Unknown vocabulary progress

14. For corporate customers

A few words for schools, university groups and courses. There are some special tools to manage and control the groups by the teacher or group leader. The teacher has additional feature can help him to manager the group:

  • Can introduce the group text books,
  • Can update the local dictionary with professional terms, words and phrases
  • Can introduce special group exercises and
  • Can control the group work on the group Dashboard
